Hello Generation of Cosplayers!
Welcome to Tip Tuesday! ^_^
Today's topic is...Worbla!
What is Worbla?
Worbla is a thermoplastic material that is non-toxic and that bends into almost any shape when heat is applied. It comes in the shape of a sheet, about the thickness of card stock paper. It has one rough side and one very smooth side. It is quite thin, but very sturdy. When heat is applied, however, it softens into a malleable material. You can heat is up to the point where it looks like playdough and you can literally roll it into 3-D shapes.
What do you make with it?
With Worbla, there are no limits! You can create so many things with this. The more popular uses of Worbla are to make armor and weapon props, but you can make accessories, buttons, brooches, belts, and more.

Why is it useful for Cosplay?
Worbla is a really easy to use, durable material to make costumes. Once you make something out of Worbla, you will most likely be able to use it for years and years with little touch ups. Because it is so useful to make so many different things, you will most likely always find a reason to use Worbla. If you buy a sheet of it, it will never be a waste of money.
Downsides of Worbla
The only negative thing I can think of Worbla is that it is an expensive material. I recommend it for a project that you want to keep and wear for many years to come. If it is within your budget, at least give it a try once. Otherwise, there are other more inexpensive alternatives to armor/prop making.
